Percival Sydney Gould was born on 24 April 1888 in Hatherleigh South Australia, the son of Edmund Gould 1851-1895 and his wife nee Emily Louisa Humphrey 1852-1928.

He married Alice Gertrude Clare Langberg 1891-1978, the daughter of Henry Langberg and Martha Bastard, on 20 February 1915 in Res. of A.E.Marsland Unley, South Austalia. She was born on 10 October 1891 in Lucindale, South Australia.

Percival and Alice had two sons.

Percival Sydney Gould died on 6 September 1943 in Naracoorte, and was buried on 7 September 1943 in Lucindale, South Australia (1).

His widow Alice Gould died on 31 August 1978 in Naracoorte, and was buried on 1 September 1978 in Lucindale (2).


(1) The reports in the Naracoorte Herald dated 10 September 1943 read: "Death - Gould - On September 6 at the Naracoorte Hospital, (suddenly), Percival Sydney, dearly beloved husband of Alice and loved father of Richard and Jeff (RAAF) and loving brother of Mary. Age 56."

"Death - Gould - On the 6th September at Naracoorte, Percival Sydney, beloved husband of Alice Gertrude Gould of Conmurra, lucindale. Age 56 years."

The obituary in the Naracoorte Herald dated 21 September 1943 reads: "Obituary Mr. Percival Sydney Gould. The death occurred at the Narracoorte Hospital on Monday, September 6, of Mr. Percival Sydney Gould, a well known resident of of the Conmurra and Lucindale districts, after an illness of a few days.
Mr. Gould took ill on a return journey from Adelaide, where he had been spending a few days, accompanied by his wife. The deceased, with his brothers, took over the homestead and property at Conmurra on their mother`s decease, and they were successful on it as graziers. They later acquired "Woodleigh" station, between Lucindale and Robe. The deceased was of a happy disposition, and his hospitality will be remembered by many who visited his home. He did not take a great part in outside activities but was a keen sportsman, being a member of the Lucindale Gun Club and on one occasion he won the championship at Narracoorte, as well as numerous other trophies. The late Mr. Gould, who was 56 years of age, was born at Hatherleigh, in the Millicent distrct, and went to Conmurra with his parents when only a year old. He was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gould, of Conmurra, and was predeaceased within the past four years by his two brothers (William and Edward) and a sister (Mrs. G. W. Langberg). Mrs. P.J. Burke, of Lucindale, is the only surviving member of the Gould family. The deceased is survived by his wife, who was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. Langberg, as well as two sons, Richard of Conmurra, and Jefferson (R.A.A.F.), who is abroad, as well as two grandchildren, Jennifer and Nedra. The late Mr. Gould was laid to rest in the Lucindale cemetery, the Rev. Smith (Methodist) officating. There was a large cortege, and numerous and beautiful were the floral tributes received from relatives and friends.
Messrs. Platt Bros., of Narracoorte, carried out the mortuary arrangements."

(2) The report in the Advertiser dated 1 September 1978 reads: "Death - Gould - Alice Gertrude Claire - Of Conmurra. On August 31 at Naracoorte Hospital, the dearly loved wife of the late Percival Sydney and loving mother of Richard and Jeff, mother in law of Millicent and Lorna, grandmother to four and great grandmother to eight children. Aged 86 years."
