Will of William Gould 1786-1839

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Gould late of Ardwick in the County of Lancaster but now residing at the Rutland Arms Inn in Bakewell in the County of Derby Gentleman First I will and direct All my just debts funeral and testamentary expences to be paid as soon as convenient after my decease by and out of my Personal Estate I Give and Devise All that my undivided moiety or equal half part or share of and in All those two Warehouses and hereditaments situate in Peel Street in the Town of Manchester in the said County of Lancaster together with all the fixtures therein and appurtenances thereunto belonging unto and to the use of my brother Richard Gould his heirs and assigns for ever I also Give and bequeath to my said brother Richard Gould the sum of One Thousand Pounds to and for his own absolute use and benefit I Give and Devise All that my Dwellinghouse together with the rights members and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate in Leigh Place Ardwick aforesaid to my Brother John Gould his heirs and assigns for ever I Give and bequeath to Alice Summers now residing at the Rutland Arms Inn in Bakewell aforesaid provided she is single and unmarried at the time of my death the sum of Five Hundred Pounds to and for her own absolute use and benefit I Give devise and bequeath All my other property whatsoever whether real estate or personal estate money bills bonds notes securities for money debts owing to me furniture and all other the residue and remainder of my estate and effects (not hereinbefore specifically disposed of) unto my sister Anne Gould and to my brothers John Gould and Thomas Gould in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common and not as joint tenants And I appoint my brothers Richard Gould and John Gould joint Executors of this my Will hereby revoking all former and other Will and Wills by me at ant time made and I publish and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Testator William Gould have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty third day of September in the Year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and thirty seven [[signed] William Gould

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator William Gould as and for his last Will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto

I do hereby Certify that on the 24th. Day of February 1840 Richard Gould of Langfield in the County of York and John Gould of Manchester in the County of Lancaster the brothers the joint Executors named in this the last Will and Testament of William Gould late of Ardwick, Manchester in the County of Lancaster Gentleman deceased were sworn well and truly to execute and perform the same: and that the whole of the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased within the Province of York do not amount in value to the sum of Seven Thousand Pounds
