John Gould was born on 7 March 1797 at Ardwick.
He was educated at Manchester School (now Manchester Grammar School). He was a friend of, and was left a legacy by, Raphael Gillum 1769-1860 in his Will.
He was a cloth merchant trading in Manchester, and died in July 1863.
