William Hambleton 1800-1865

Milldale

William Hambleton was born in 1800 at Milldale in Alstonefield parish in Staffordshire, the son of William Hambleton and his wife nee Martha Sheldon, and was baptised on 6 July 1800 at Alstonefield. His father was a stone mason, and he followed him into the same trade.

By 1841 he was widowed, with the following children:

Samuel Hambleton. He was born in 1826.

Mary Hambleton. She was born in 1828.

Abraham Hambleton. He was born in 1830, and became a stone mason like his father and grandfather. He married Emma Buckley in 1850, and they had a family. He died on 16 July 1874 aged only 44 years, and was buried at Alstonefield where there is a gravestone inscribed to his memory.

Harriet Hambleton. She was born in 1833. She was married to Thomas Wagstaff at Alsop-en-le-Dale in 1852.

In 1848 he married Sarah Austin of Milldale. She was a widow with children.

William Hambleton died in 1865 aged 64 years.

His widow Sarah Hambleton died in 1882 aged 70 years.
