Note

(1) The gravestone is in slate and was made by Thomas Hardy of Tissington. The inscription reads:

"IN
AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE
OF THE LATE
ABRAHAM HAMBLETON
WHO DIED JULY 13, 1874:
AGED 44 YEARS.

HE'S SAFE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS,
SAFE ON HIS GENTLE BREAST;
THERE BY HIS LOVE O'ERSHADED
SWEETLY HIS SOUL DOES REST."

The words are adapted from the hymn written on 30 April 1868 by Fanny J. Crosby 1820–1915.
