Nat Gould

Peter Gould 1881-1931

Peter Gould was born in 1881 at Heathcote near Hartington in Derbyshire, the son of James Gould 1822-1903 (1) and his second wife Jane Buxton 1850-1929. He was baptised at Biggin church on 13 February 1881.

When the Census was taken in 1891 he was living aged ten at home with his parents at Heathcote. By 1911 he was working aged 30 as a cowman at Royston Grange Farm, a dairy farm near Parwich in Derbyshire, for Rebecca N. Etches. With him was his younger brother Benjamin Gould aged 28 and also working there as a cowman.

He married in 1913 and his wife was probably Sarah Hannah Austin 1885-1950. She was born in 1885 at Milldale in Alstonefield parish in Staffordshire, the daughter of James Austin.

They probably had the following children:

Hilda Gould. She was born in 1917.

Emma Gould. She was born in 1919.

Joseph W. Gould. He was born in 1921.

James A. Gould. He was born in 1926.

Peter Gould died in 1931.

Sarah Hannah Gould died in 1950.

(1) Although living in the same ecclesiastical parish of Hartington, it is not known whether this Gould family was connected with the Gould family of Pilsbury Grange.
