Hannah Needham Champion was born in 1804, the daughter of John Champion of Edale in Derbyshire and his wife nee Frances Beresford. She was baptised on 9 May 1804 at Edale.
On 8 February 1831 she was married to Francis Gould 1804-1877 of Hanson Grange in Thorpe parish, Derbyshire.

They had a daughter Frances Gould 1832-1913 known in the family as Fanny. In 1854 she was married to Joseph Leach 1827-1897, a Lancashire cotton and insurance broker.
