Elizabeth Shaw was born on 19 January 1764 at Eaton, Doveridge parish in Derbyshire, the daughter of Samuel Shaw 1726-1801 and his wife nee Jane Joyce 1728-1785.

On 3 November 1783 she was married to William Carrington 1752-1840 at Croxden in Staffordshire.

They had the following children, all born at Croxden:

Walter Carrington. He was born on 22 April 1784. He married Mary Ann Godrich born 1789.

Samuel Carrington. He was born on 23 April 1787 and died in 1822.

William Carrington. He was born on 12 October 1789 and died on 26 June 1833 at Croxden.

Thomas Carrington. He was born on 25 September 1791. He married Caroline Fowler 1794-1853, and died on 28 September 1868 at Doveridge.

George Carrington. He was born on 6 November 1794. He married Mary Ann (maiden surname unknown) and died in 1876.

Mary Carrington. She was born on 12 October 1799 at Croxden, and died in 1875 at Market Bosworth in Leicestershire aged 75 years. She was married on 26 June 1821 to Francis Allen Parramore 1795-1862, born in 1795 at Brinsley in Greasley parish in Nottinghamshire, the son of George Parramore 1768-1847 and his wife nee Patience Allen 1755-1828. He was baptised at Greasley on 23 November 1795.

John Carrington. He was born in 1799. He married Martha Smith 1821-1841, and died in 1875 at Croxden. One of their sons was the celebrated farmer William Townsend Carrington, who was "at once one of the best dairy farmers in the country and the best writer on dairy farming”. Tragically he died on 7 May 1881 aged 40 of complications from measles (1).

Jane Carrington. She was born on 1802. She was married to the Reverend Walter Eddowes (died 1817), and died on 31 December 1876 at Croxden.

Elizabeth Carrington 1809-1873. She was born in 1809. In 1829 she was married to Thomas Smith 1799-1855 of Blore Hall, Blore in Staffordshire. She died in 1873.

Elizabeth Carrington nee Shaw died on 3 May 1852 aged 88 years.
