Will of John Ramsker 1657

In the Name of God Amen The nine and twentieth day of October in the yeare of Christ according to the Computacon used in England one Thousand six hundred Fiftie and seven I John Ramsker of Sheffield in the Countie of York Cutler considering my mortalitie doe ordaine and make this my present last will and testament in manner and forme following First and principally I commit my soule into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping by the mercie and merite of Christ Jesus my Redeemer to have my sinns pardoned my soule saved and to be made partaker of the everlasting joyes of heaven And I commit my bodie to the earthe when and where it shall please God to call me And touching such worldly estate as the Lord in his goodness hath bestowed upon me I dispose thereof as Followeth First my mind and will is that my true debts (if any such be) and my Funeral expences shalbe paid and discharged out my whole goods Also I give and bequeath unto Anne Ramsker my fourth daughter the summe of twentie pounds of Currant english money To be paid unto her by my executrix hereafter named when she shall accomplish her full age of one and twentie yeares for her porcion Also I give and bequeath unto Isabell Ramsker my fifth daughter the the [sic] like summe of twentie pounds of like currant money To be paid to her by my said executrix when she shall accomplish her full age of one and twentie yeares for her porcion Also I give and bequeath unto Henry Ramsker my elder sonne the like summe of twentie pounds of like currant money To be paid to him by my said executrix when he shall accomplish his full age of one and twentie yeares for his porcion Also I give and bequeath unto Thomas Ramsker my younger sonne the like summe of twentie pounds of like currant money To be paid to him by my said executrix when he shall accomplish his full age of one and twentie yeares for his porcion Also I give and bequeath unto Hellen Pearson my daughter the summe of ten pounds of like currant money To be paid to her by my said executrix in manner and forme following To witt Five pounds thereof within twelve months next after my decease And the other Five pounds thereof within two yeares next after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth now wife of Theophilus Ladby the like summe of ten pounds of like currant money to be paid to her by my said executrix within three yeares next after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret now wife of Richard Abbit the like summe of like currant money to be paid to her by my said executrix within three yeares next after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto everie one of my grandchildren twelve pence apiece All the rest of my goods Chattells and Credits not before devised given or bequeathed I give devise and bequeath unto Isabell Ramsker my wife To the intent that she may with and for the same bring up my younger children with meat drink and learning untill such tyme as they shalbe fit to put forth Apprentices And I make and appoint the said Isabell my wife the sole and onely executrix of this my present last will and testament desiring her to see the same truly performed according to my trust in her reposed And I commit the tuition of my said younger children and that which to them doth belong unto the said Isabell my wife during their minorities hoping she wilbe a careful mother over them And I make and appoint my loving friends William Medley William Curtis of London gentlemen and Nicholas Lockwood and Richard Simmes of Sheffield aforesaid supervisors of this my present last will and testament desiring them to aide my said executrix with their best advice and counsell in the performance hereof And I give unto the said William Medley & William Curtis either of them twentie shillings a piece for a legacie And unto the said Nicholas Lockwood and Richard Simmes either of them five shillings a piece for a legacie And my mind and will is that they shall have their charges borne when they or any of them shalbe imployed about the same In testamonie whereof I the said John Ramsker have here unto set my hand & seale the day & yeare above written And have declared the same to be my last will & testament John Ramsker In presence of Nicholas Lockwood his marke Richard Simmes his marke James Lee.

This Will was proved at London before the Judges for probatt of wills & granting Administration lawfully authorized the seaven & twentieth day of November in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand sixe hundred fiftie seaven By the oath of Isabell Rainsker the relict & sole executrix therein named To whom administration was committed She being first legally sworne truely to administer.
