Thomas Bennington was born in about September 1767 at Gressenhall in Norfolk, and baptised there on 26 December 1767. He was the son of Thomas Bennington 1731-1816 and his wife nee Elizabeth Palmer 1754-1787.
He married Phoebe Bowman in 1794 at Sporle in Norfolk. She was born in 1768 at Holme Hale, Norfolk.
