His life and books

Sir George Reid

George Reid, described by Nat Gould in an 1897 letter to E.J. Brady as a “busted Tomato” in Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee Procession through the streets of London in 1897, was then the Prime Minister of New South Wales, Australia.

Known as “Yes-No” Reid because of his ambivalence to federation of the Australian states, he became the fourth Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia.
