Francis Greensmith was born in 1755, the son of John Greensmith and his wife nee Sarah Buxton of Bradbourne in Derbyshire. He was baptised on 12 October 1755 at Kniveton in Derbyshire.
He married Anne Gilman on 13 June 1782 at Longford in Derbyshire.
They had a son Thomas Greensmith. He was born on 15 September 1785. He married Thomasin Goodwin Gould 1787-1853, and died on 8 September 1876.
His father Francis Greensmith died at Thorpe on 26 June 1831 aged 75 years, and was buried at Thorpe in Derbyshire.
