Fergus Hume 1859-1932

Fergusson Wright Hume, known as Fergus Hume, was born in England on 8 July 1859, but emigrated to New Zealand when three years old with his family.

He was the author of “The Mystery of a Hansom Cab”, the novel that made him famous. He returned to Englnd in 1888 and lived quietly in Essex where he died on 12 July 1932.

Nat Gould refers to him in a letter to his friend E.J. Brady written from England in 1895.
