Elizabeth Bagshaw was born in 1846 at High Needham in Hartington parish in Derbyshire. She was the daughter of Ralph Bagshaw and his wife nee Ann Gould, and was baptised at Earl Sterndale in Derbyshire on 4 January 1846.

She was married to Thomas Housley between 1871 and 1881. He was born in 1843 at Longnor in Staffordshire, the son of George Housley and his wife nee Margaret Johnson.

When the 1881 Census was taken they were farming 61 acres at Parsley Hay in Hartington parish, employing a farm labourer.

By 1891 they were at Friden Grange, employing a manservant and a female domestic servant.

In 1911 Thomas Housley was visiting his unmarried brother Joseph Housley at Custard Fields farm in Hartington parish.

Elizabeth Housley nee Bagshaw died on 4 May 1927 at Biggin Hall in Derbyshire aged 81 years (1).

Her husband Thomas Housley had predeceased her on 23 February 1923 (2).

(2) He died in Derby Borough Mental Hospital at Rowditch in Derby, having been previously living in Mayfield Road in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. His effects were £2,581 11s 1d, probate of which was granted in London on 30 August 1923 to his brothers Walter Housley, wheelwright, and Joseph Housley, retired farmer: England and Wales National Probate Calendar 1858-1966 (1923) page 222.
