Arthur Austin 1878-1959

Arthur Austin was born in 1878 at Alstonefield in Staffordshire, the son of Frank Austin and his wife nee Mahala Berisford.

In 1881 the family were recorded as living in Milldale, but when the 1891 Census was taken they were recorded at 4 Hope Road in Alstonefield. They were still there in 1901, when he was a cattleman working on a farm. Later he became a farmer himself.

He married Lucy Webster in 1907. She was born in 1882 at Kniveton in Derbyshire, the daughter of Thomas and Harriet Webster. He was born in 1852 at Hognaston in Derbyshire, the son of Samuel and Judith Webster.

Arthur and Lucy Austin farmed at Hope in Alstonefield parish, and had a son Arthur Austin born there in 1909.

Lucy Austin died in 1925 aged 42 years.

In 1933 Arthur Austin married Lizzie Naylor at Bradley in Derbyshire.

He died in 1959 aged 82 years.
